Free Range Learning
Spending time in the forest gives children the opportunity to learn and explore at their own pace. Our children engage in self-directed learning, take part in prepared lessons, and go on wonderful adventures that cultivate a love for the local woodland environment. Children are encouraged to pursue their own interests, making the learning that takes place more impactful. Days are filled with inquiry, experimentation, adventure, design, creativity, technology, arts, physical activity, and social interactions – all in a natural environment.
Forest School is a child-centered experiential learning model that encourages the holistic development of each child. Nature is considered the third teacher and fundamental for each child’s growth. Regular and repeated access to natural environments and child-directed, emergent, and inquiry-based learning builds a strong foundation for children of all ages.
Enhanced empathy, self-regulation, critical thinking, and the ability to take and manage risks are just a few benefits. Under the Forest canopy, children develop confidence and self-esteem and become independent, balanced, resilient, happy individuals.
