Classification Talk - Rev. Don Ingersoll

On May 8, 2017, Angie Cummings introduced fellow Rotarian Don Ingersoll.

Rev. Don Ingersoll gave a Classification Talk. Don has spent all of his career in Southern New Brunswick. He grew up in Saint John, attended Kingswood University, and then graduated from a school in upstate New York. Don started off studying music but later transferred to a ministry program.

Don is responsible for transforming Caton’s Island into a children’s camp after the Wesleyan Church purchased it. Don pastored Kings Valley Wesleyan in Quispamsis for 16 years and then 12 years at Moncton Wesleyan. Presently he is on staff at Sussex Wesleyan.

Don talked about churches having a role in “adding value” to individuals and how society has been moving away from church attendance. At one point, attendance drove engagement, but presently engagement is what drives attendance. This is a societal change and a philosophical shift.

In telling his story, Don shared how a “crisis of faith” lead him to search for a pearl of eternal worth.

Robert Short thanked Rev. Don for a very interesting talk.
