On Nov. 19, 2018, Christine Moffett introduced John Dunfield, an employee of Bell Aliant, and also an owner of the new Sussex Craft Distillery.
John explained that he and a group of friends had an investment and decided to diversity and do something to promote the economy of Sussex. Getting the proper licensing had its challenges, but perseverance paid off.
Learning the art of distilling was a process that included visiting others and also studying to obtain his MD – Master Distiller.
A market survey revealed there were a limited number of distilleries in New Brunswick producing spirits, so the team embarked on their new adventure. The company’s strategy is to build a story about the Sussex area with several products being given names reflective of our community.
John came with a gift give-away. Tickets from the Chase the Joker weekly draw were used for a second to find a winner of the gift pack. Pictured above with Rhoda and John is Interact Member Kegan Wallace, who drew the lucky number for his mother, Tammy Scott-Wallace. Rhoda will deliver the gift on John and Kegan’s behalf.
