Sussex Interact Visits Rotary Club
Monday, November 21st, Sussex Regional High School Interact Club visited the Rotary Club of Sussex for a brief recap on their ongoing initiatives to make a difference in their school and local and international communities. Joining us were Hannah McNair (Secretary), standing in for Jaime Wallace (President), and members Emily Hookey, Hilary Jenkins, Maddy Muir, Lillian Coleman and Emerson Monahan.

Hannah addressed the Club on behalf of their membership, sharing that "[Interact] will partner on many projects with a focus on women and children in our local community. We understand that COVID was especially challenging on women and children, so we want to help where we can"...

Hannah updated that the Interact Club had recently participated in the Tim Horton's Smile Cookie Campaign 2022, raising money for the Little Jackie Fund. Additionally, they had joined the sponsoring Rotarians in raising the END POLIO NOW flag at the Sussex Town Hall, generating awareness for the fight against polio. They also had additional plans to support this year's Salvation Army Kettle Campaign this upcoming holiday season.

Hannah said, "we are holding a Christmas Raffle basked fundraiser in the coming weeks to raise money for the Women in Business Awards. This is a new event hosted by the Sussex Chamber of Commerce". She continued, "we must help lift women who serve as role models to young females in our community.

"President Jaime Wallace met with the Multicultural Association of Sussex," Hannah continued, "and we are excited to work on projects with them. Our club plans to use our Valentine Rose sale... as a fundraiser to buy English language books for the Multicultural Association for moms to read to their children and bedtime storybooks for the Sussex Vale Transition House."

"We know the value of reading and the safety children feel when they are read to."

The Interact Club is working together to grow its membership, with 13 active members seeing new faces each week.

Sussex Rotary Club President Sheri Shannon thanked Hannah and the other members for joining us and invited them to attend future Rotary Club meetings. Great job, Sussex Interact Club!
