Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

In 2016, the Rotary Club of Sussex became involved in a small way with Dolly Parton’s Imaginary Library book project.

As stated by Dolly, “This program is one of the most important ways I know to improve the educational opportunities for children in your community.

The Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a free children’s book distribution program. Dolly Parton started this program in 1996 in her home area – Sevier County, Tennessee. The program arranges for children up to the age of five to receive free monthly books that are age-appropriate. Presently the program has expanded over the US, Canada, the United Kingdom and Belize.

In 2017, over 20,891 children in Canada were receiving reading books each month, and our Club is proud to be a small part of that number.

If you would like to support this program with a financial donation, please contact us at info@sussexrotary.org. A charitable tax receipt will be issued for your contribution.

On June 16th, 2018, Sussex Rotary held “Sussex Rotary Brew Fest presented by Turnbull and Kindred” at Poley Mountain Resort in Waterford, NB. As the very first Brew Fest of its kind in Sussex, over 260 guests enjoyed a sampling of locally made craft beer, cider, mead and even spirits from the newly opened Sussex Craft Distillery of Sussex Corner. The funds raised from the Sussex Rotary Brew Fest were used to provide the young children in our community the gift of literacy through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library as well as other causes supported by the Club.

Sussex Rotary acknowledged with THANKS the “Community Friends” below who contributed $225.00 for a five-year sponsorship for a child through the Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
